Who We Are

We are an active group of residents in Ipswich that want to preserve the character and amenity of our suburb while also enhancing it for future residents.  To do this we want to participate rather than just be informed of how our suburb grows so that our community can prosper in line with the needs and wants of our community.

Where We Live

Bellbird Park is a leafy green suburb in the east of Ipswich.  As such it has a high diversity of wildlife made possible through large acreage style blocks and wide vegetated corridors.  However, Bellbird Park is rapidly growing in population and has been in the top five growth suburbs of Ipswich since 2016.

What We Want

We want to continue to co-exist in an urban setting and ensure urban growth aligns with and enhances the current leafy character and amenity of the suburb.  Our concerns are replicated across Southeast Queensland, where rapid urban growth is causing significant biodiversity declines and the anticipated extinction of the iconic Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus).  We are thus part of a collective voice in the wider community that addresses this as a matter of concern.

How We Want This To Happen

Community driven solutions are needed to address planning, climate change and biodiversity loss.  Working with governments, we aim to prohibit inappropriate development, empower our community and enhance our natural assets while also improving the wellbeing and liveability for future generations.  We aim to do this through community consultation meetings, writing letters, having government meetings and through community-run group activities.
